Sing in the Chancel Choir
Rehearsal is each Sunday morning at 9:15 am in the Choir Room. During Advent and Lent, rehearsal usually moves to 9:00 to get ready for Christmas and Easter. The choir assists the congregation in its worship life and sings a wide variety of music.
In the summer, rehearsal begins at 9:30 am in the Choir Room. The choir particularly welcomes additional singers during the summer. All vocal parts are welcomed, especially women. There is no audition--just show up for rehearsal. The ability to read music is not a prerequisite. This is a week to week commitment--sing when you can. The summer choir music is a lighter fare and easily learned during each rehearsal.
The E. M. Skinner Organ
Central's organ was built in 1930 by the E. M. Skinner Pipe Organ Company (Opus 776) and was completely restored in 1997. The instrument is composed of 40 ranks (sets) of pipes and is placed in the chambers on either side of the chancel and in the balcony at the rear of the sanctuary. It is the only Skinner pipe organ in Louisville.
