Rooted and grounded in God's wildly inclusive love,
we seek the voice of God in our lives.
Nurturing God's gifts so generously given, we work to grow in our life together and in our engagement with the world.
We celebrate the hope of Jesus Christ by working actively for peace and justice.
We reach out with love to all God's children, including those outside the mainstream of society.
We strive to be responsive and responsible to each other and to those whose lives we touch.
We joyfully open ourselves to what God's Spirit will yet call us to be and do.
Some of the ways we embody this mission includes:
- writing letters to our elected officials for Bread for the World's Offering of Letters on issues important to hungry people
- hosting the Tuesday Buddy Dinner for people with HIV/AIDS and their family and care-givers
- working for a more inclusive church and society for all people, including those who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender
- welcoming guests, serving lunch and praying with our neighbors each Wednesday at noon
- selling and serving Fair Trade coffee, tea, cocoa, and snacks
- serving as Board members and volunteers at the HELP Office (our community ministry serving neighbors in Old Louisville)
- serving as Board members of Peace Education Program (Peace Education also has their office and training space in our building)
- demonstrating for peace in the Middle East
- tutoring students at Engelhard Elementary (our neighborhood public elementary school)
- supporting PC(USA) mission worker Alice Winters who is on the faculty at Colombia Reformed University in Barranquilla, Colombia. Read about her ministry "Real-world and Bible-based' here.
- opening our building to a multitude of community groups for their meetings and events (some of these groups include Project Warm, Habitat for Humanity, Narcotics Anonymous, Voices of Kentuckiana, Presbyterian Peacemaking Program, Pandora Productions, AIDS Interfaith Ministries)
